A Real Eye Opener
One of the signs of the Messiah's coming would be the restoration of sight to the blind.
"Be strong, do not fear; your God will come.
Then will the eyes of the blind be opened
and the ears of the deaf be unstopped." Isaiah 35: 4-5
Jesus declares himself to be "The Light of the World." This is an audacious claim. In calling himself the light of the world Jesus uses the term "I Am" which in the Old Testament is the name for God Himself.
The one miracle Jesus performed more than any other was the opening of the eyes of the blind. He did it on a least four different occasions. His method is different each time.
The miracle of healing is a sign validating Jesus's claim to be the Messiah, the Son of the Living God - the Great I Am, who provides sight to those living in darkness.
The healing of this blind man reminds us that God loves the individual. He sees the pain and suffering of individual people, and He is concerned.
