Message from the Pastor - Bob Bahr
This morning I have been somewhat frustrated by God’s silence. I’ve been praying about something for many years without seeing any change in the situation. And I get tired of waiting. I want to say to God: “Let’s get on with it.” When you are waiting on God to act, those words might describe your reaction.
You may be waiting for the provision of a new job; for God to woo a grown child back to faith; for Him to open the womb for a baby desperately wanted, or to heal a loved one of a serious illness. This Sunday I want to reflect on the challenges of waiting. I will be preaching from Acts 1:12-14.
Someone once said: “The silence of God is not the silence of indifference but the silence of a higher purpose.” What are some of the benefits of waiting? How has the discipline of waiting for God’s guidance contributed to your spiritual growth?
I would also like you to notice how the leaders of the early church responded to this time of waiting. What lessons can you learn from their response? And what can you do to strengthen your faith during these seasons of waiting? Brainstorm this question with a family member or friend.
From a practical perspective take time to enjoy the sunshine. Allow the warmth of spring to remind you that winter’s power has been broken and HE is in charge of all things.
I want you to know that I appreciate each none of you and pray for the church daily. May the sunshine of God’s love and grace break on the landscape of your life this week.
For many years the WVBC library was very busy. Until COVID arrived and we closed our doors. The library has a great selection of books, non-fiction and fiction, videos, and books in Chinese characters.
Training is available. We have new books that need to be entered into the library database. The books have been arranged according to the Dewey Decimal system, which is based on similar types of books. Unfortunately, if we don't get a response, we will need to close the library and donate the books wherever we can, if you are willing contact Tracey Miller in the church office.
Diaper Drive for the Harvest Project: Our missions committee will collect the diapers to give to the Harvest Project. They have specifically asked for large-size diapers, pull-ups, and wipes.
