This Sunday, I will be unpacking the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead found in John 11. Please read through this passage and imagine yourself as a part of this very moving drama.
Whom do you identify with in this drama - Jesus, Mary, Martha, the disciples, or the spectators? In my message, I want to concentrate on the fact that Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Through His death and resurrection, He has unleashed a fresh outpouring of new life into our world. This outpouring of new life is given so that we might be His disciples and witnesses in the world.
But the biblical concept of discipleship is slightly different from our western model. Our western model focuses mainly on the gospel as information, and our goal is to be a person of correct understanding. We focus mainly on spreading information about Jesus. On the other hand, Jesus’ model of discipleship is about living our life like him and inspiring others to do the same.
Personally, I find this to be a real eye-opener. Discipleship is not about how much we know but rather about lifestyle. Something to ponder.
Lord Jesus show me those areas of my life where I need a touch of your transforming power.
