Pastor's Message - Axel Schoeber
When you read this, Karen and I will be on the road to see our family on the prairies. It will be the first time ever we will have together with our 2 children, their spouses, and all 5 grandchildren. At the end of our trip, we will pick up my father, who is staying with my brother in Nelson, and move back to the house in Victoria which we have been sharing with other family members. Retirement is underway for me. We are grateful for the many kind words over recent weeks and for the opportunity to serve at West Vancouver Baptist Church. We look forward to seeing you in person on September 19. Please watch for details. “The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord look with kindness upon you and be gracious to you. May he lift up his smile upon you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
Larry Schram: Our Guest speaker this Sunday is Larry Schram, our CBWC Regional Minister. The sermon title is: A Purpose Runs Through It. Romans 8:28, “it’s a wonderful reminder that our Lord can weave all things together for his purposes”. We look forward to welcoming Larry back.
Church re-opening: we are planning to return to live services in the sanctuary on September 12. We are also aiming to provide live transmission of the service so that it can be viewed online. We’ll be providing more details in due course. It’ll be great to be able to worship together once more!
Boundaries is a 9-week course on Zoom that asks questions such as:
- can I set limits and still be a loving person?
- how do I answer someone who wants all of my time, love, energy, and money?
- why do I feel guilty when I consider setting boundaries?
The course will run on Saturdays, 9:00 -10:45am, starting August 7 through October 2, 2021. You can sign up on the church website where you’ll find further details. For more information please call the office.
Prayer and Praise: Friday, July 30 at 7:00pm! The Prayer and Praise group will be meeting on the last Friday of each month. Come and enjoy an evening of Prayer and Praise - all are welcome! Please note that we will be meeting in the Fireside Room due to construction in the church foyer.
Welcome Back to Church HOE-DOWN: We are excited to announce that we will be having a HOE-DOWN to celebrate the re-opening of the church on Sunday, September 19. We will have a time of food, fellowship, and fun together! Pastor Axel and Karen will be guests, so you can say your farewells in person. Save the date on your calendars. More details to come.
Prayer and Praise: A new group is meeting weekly on Tuesday mornings from 10:00am to 12:00pm, in the Fireside Room. Come sing and pray! All are welcome.
