Pastor's Message - Bob Bahr
Let me express my deep honour and appreciation for the opportunity to fill in for Pastor Chris as he and Gail are on holiday. As you know Pastor Chris came down with COVID and was forced to reschedule their flight to England until this Friday. Let us pray for them that their time away will be both refreshing and uplifting.
This Sunday: I plan to continue in our series on studies from the Book of Revelation. This week we will look at "How the Story Ends" from Revelation 21. Please read through this chapter and reflect on the characteristics of the New Jerusalem.
I also plan to be available in the church office on Tuesday afternoons and on Thursdays if you would like someone with whom you can pray or talk.
Canada Celebration: This Sunday we will also take time to acknowledge and celebrate our country of Canada. Bob Rae reminds us: “Canada stands as a model of how people of different cultures can live and work together in peace, prosperity, and mutual respect.”
Interestingly, it wasn’t until 1980 that “O Canada” was named our official national anthem and it wasn’t until 1982 that July 1 was called “Canada Day.” Unfortunately, we really only sing the first verse of O Canada. But there are actually three more verses to the song. The last verse is particularly relevant to the sermon this morning.
Ruler Supreme, who hearest humble prayer, Hold our Dominion within thy loving care; Help us to find, O God, in thee A Lasting, Rich Reward, As waiting for the Better Day, We ever stand on guard. God keep our land Glorious and free! O Canada, We stand on guard for thee. O Canada, We stand on guard for thee.
Prayer for the sick: continue to pray for those who have had major surgery. May God's peace and healing rest upon them. Pray also for those in our congregation who have shown symptoms of COVID.
